KHMU members of Namwon Medical Center has continued their strike since 7 December. KHMU members have been fighting for their rights to the freedom of association and collective bargaining. Employers of the medical center have enforced the local union to accept the deterioration of the existing collective agreement. The employers unreasonably rejected the mediation made by a local office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor. What was worse, the employers has not implemented the main parts of the existing local agreement such as wage increase, 5-day work week, the extension of retirement age and the increase of staffing/manpower. 322 employees are working in Namwon Medical Center, out of them 250 are KHMU members.
