On 12 May of the International Nurses Day, KHMU held a conference on nurse staffing at the National Assembly. In the conference, Lee Joo-ho (senior director of strategy and planning of KHMU) introduced about the Ratio Act of California which was legislated in 1993. In US a nurse cares 4 or 5 patients, while in Korea a nurse does patients 2 times to 10 times more than in US. As a result, the service year of nurses in Korea ceases to 5 years and the rate of turnover is over 20%.
